About this tour

Ride by the coast at one of the most idyllic places of Greece, the south Peloponnesian coast. You will visit Laconia, Messinia with the amazing beaches and the picaresque area of Mani, famous for its towers, architecture and the wild beauty. You will pass from small towns, eat at fish taverns, swim in golden beaches and get to know the local culture. Our local expert guides will make sure you will take the most from this tour!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Optional transfer to Pylos, this charming town of south-west Peloponnese, which is the start of our tour. The venetian castle stands at the edge of the city and the local history is full of warfare. Welcome dinner so we meet all together and discuss aspects of our weekly tour. Day 2: Pylos- Petalidi 61km/+960m After a good breakfast we begin today ride. We will cycle the whole Messinian coast passing by the picturesque Methoni and Koroni with the amazing Venetian castles and Finikounda with is amazing sandy beach. Arrival and overnight in Petalidi. Day 3: Petalidi-Kalamata 37km/+200m This day is an easy going day and the easiest ride. We will cycle towards Kalamata passing by nice beaches and tiny backroads. Arrival in Kalamata, the capital of the region of Messinia. In Kalamata we will enjoy nice walks by the port at the coastal road, nice food and coffee, the beach and of course we will taste the famous Kalamata olives. Day 4: Kalamata-Areopoli 77km/+1600m Today’s ride is the most demanding of the tour, but also one of the most beautiful. We will ride the area of Mani, with the wild beauty of the rocky landscape. Passing by Kardamili and ending up in Areopoli, you will understand why Mani is one of a kind. The local architecture with the traditional stone towers and imposing Taygetos mountain create this unique atmosphere. For weaker cyclists, the support van is always there so length and climbing is no issue. Day 5: Areopoli-Elia 63km/+700m In the morning we will visit the amazing Diros caves. It is a lake cave, and the visit is by boat. Millions of years have gone by to create this standing decoration at the roof of the cave. After the visit we will start riding and passing by Gytheio, a coastal fisherman village where we can taste fresh fish and Octapus, we will end up in Elia where we overnight. Day 6: Elia-Elafonissos –Neapoli 50Km/+800m In the morning we will start riding the southwest part of The Peloponnese, Laconia. We will enjoy the scenery and finally we end up in the island of Elafonissos, where we go by ferry. We will stop for swimming in the famous Simos beach, which is considered one of the top 3 beaches of the whole Mediterranean. After swimming, we will continue riding to Neapoli. Day 7: Neapoli –Monemvassia-limin Geraka 40Km/+530m Last day of riding and we will ride to the amazing town of Monemvassia. Monemvassia is one of the most beautiful towns of Greece. It is a medieval castle built in a huge rock in the sea. Before our arrival there, we will cycle up to Limin Gerakas, to visit the fiord and taste the local fresh fish. Day 8: Departure After a morning walk in the city of Monemvassia, transfer to Athens or Kalamata airport for departure.
